A realist evaluation of community-based participatory research: partnership synergy, trust building and related ripple effects

Let’s continue our dive into community-based participatory research (CBPR). You may also know this under the term “citizen science.” CBPR helps to build and sustain community relationships and may result in more effective and community-supported interventions. Our communities are filled to the brim with dedication, creativity, and abilities to solve many societal issues. I encourage everyone to pursue CBPR. In my opinion, communities do not need to be saved. They need resources and power.

Excerpt: “Realist methodology was used to increase the understanding of what supports partnership synergy in successful long-term CBPR partnerships, and to further document how equitable partnerships can result in numerous benefits including the sustainability of relationships, research and solutions.”
