Victory! Johnson & Johnson removes its talc-based baby powder from the global market!

First of all, we want to thank you for your financial support. Your funds provide us opportunities to participate in campaigns like this one.

If you have been following our work, you know that for the past two years, we have worked with hundreds of global partners and international investment companies to pressure Johnson and Johnson to remove its talc-based baby powder from the global market.

In 2020, after thousand of lawsuits and mounting legal fees, Johnson & Johnson announced it would stop selling its talc-based baby powder in the US and Canada. When mined, talc can be contaminated with cancer-causing asbestos. Johnson & Johnson admitted to knowing the potential cancer dangers of this product for decades, yet the company intentionally marketed the product to Black and Brown communities.

Like many companies in 2020, Johnson & Johnson released a statement in solidarity with the Black Lives Matter movement. However, their behavior proved the statement to be a lie.

On August 12, 2022, the company released a statement saying they would remove talc-based baby powder from the global market! Unfortunately, they are still standing by the safety of talc, but we are relieved that no one will have to be exposed to this product anymore, and hopefully, those who mine the product will be able to live healthier lives.
